One Word 2011

So if you had any involvement in my birthday week giveaways, you know I’m a big fan of Alece Ronzino over at Grit and Glory.  I started reading and looking around her blog back in March or April and saw this banner for her One Word Campaign. And I think her words describe it best.

“No resolutions.  No list of goals.  Just One Word.  And a commitment to focus on your word all year long.  Let it shape you, guide your decisions, and help you grow. And you’ll discover the big impact one word can make.”

As a New Year’s Resolutions failure I like the idea of not having a list of things to do.  I’m not really into lists…with the exception of my 10 Things.  I like focus.  I like simple.  I really like this idea.  So last month when she posted a halfway update, I mentioned that I’d be ready for next year.  I already knew what my word was going to be.  She prompted me to go ahead and jump in for this year.  It’s never too late!  So here goes.

My One Word for 2011 is the word “Be” in all of  it’s forms.  Maybe that’s cheating a little.  But it’s my word, and I’ll use it however I want to.

I was just reading Alece’s description and immediately knew I had to use this word.  What does it mean to just be?  I want to be comfortable in my own skin.  I just want to be comfortable with who I am and who God is calling me to be.  God doesn’t call us just to exist.  He calls us to be like Him.

I no longer want to live with the burden of who I’ve been but want to focus on who I am becoming.  I want to Be Present in every aspect of my life and focus on being a light.

So that’s my One Word.

Two letters.

Huge implications.

What about you?  Are you ready to Be?  What’s your word?  Write a post about it and link it here.  You won’t be sorry.

About the author

  • My one word is: Hope. God has called me to step out of my box and talk about hard things, tell stories I didn’t want to tell, and give parts of my heart away when I wasn’t really ready. It is more than I expected and scares me a little bit for the rest of the year. But I know I am moving closer to who He wants me to be and for that it’s all worth it.

    • As I was linking my post to Alece’s I was going through some of the posts that others had posted and saw yours, so I had to read it for sure! Love it. Hope is what gets us out of bed in the mornings and lays down with us to sleep for a better tomorrow!!

Perservere is the only word in my vocabulary right now.

    • Praying for you, friend. Don’t know what’s going on, but know that I’ll be praying. You’ve got this!
