10 Movies I Can Watch Over and Over

I’m sure I’m going to forget some, and I’m sure that you’re going to think some of my picks are really dumb movies, but I like them.  Some of these are favorites of mine, and some of them I just like to watch, if that makes sense.  I’m interested in know what yours would be.  So here we go and in no particular order.

**Disclaimer – (for my gentlemen readers) I’m a girl.  Most of these are girlie movies.  If you have a problem with that, talk to God.  He created me.

1.  Return to Me – This is probably my favorite movie.  It’s sad.  It’s funny.  It’s a love story.  It’s got two of my favorites, Bonnie Hunt and Minnie Driver.  Just a good movie.  Watch it if you haven’t.

2.  Pretty Woman – I’ve written a whole post about the whole concept that there’s a little hooker in all of us.  This movie is the reason I came up with that idea.

3.  The Prince and Me – Seriously.  A Denmark prince goes incognito to college in America, meets a girl and falls in love.  I know.  I’m super cheesy, but I love it.  I can watch it over and over and over again.  It’s every little girl’s dream.

4.  The Bourne Trilogy – Yes.  I know this is three movies, but you can’t really say one without saying them all.  They’re just well-done movies.  and then there’s Matt Damon…

5.  Groundhog Day – There’s just something about this movie that I love.  I’m not really sure what, but I still love it.

6.  While You Were Sleeping & The Proposal – I know.  I almost put every Sandra Bullock movie ever, but I narrowed it down to two.  I love both of these probably pretty equally.  The one bonus that The Proposal has over WYWS is Ryan Reynolds.

7.  Pride and Prejudice – I prefer the 6-hour BBC version, but when I don’t have time to watch that version (or read the book), the newest version will work for a quick Mr. Darcy fix.  Honestly, when they make your favorite book of all time into a movie, you really want it to be good.  If you have time, watch the BBC version.

8.  My Big Fat Greek Wedding – This was one that took me by surprise.  I expected it to be really cheesy and bad.  While it was really cheesy, I still loved it.

9.  The Pelican Brief – I’ve never met anyone who doesn’t like this movie.  If I see it on TV, I watch it.  End of story.

10.  Sweet Home Alabama – It’s Reese Witherspoon, so I usually give it a shot.  Then you put in McDreamy and Josh Lucas, who I think is more dreamy than McDreamy along with the deep south, fashion design and trailer trash, it’s a home run.

So that’s 10 movies that I can watch over and over again.  What are some of yours?

About the author

  • Here are 10 I can watch over and over again. They are not my top ten favorites mind you, but I can watch them anytime they’re on:

    in no particular order

    -Die Hard
    -The Three Amigos
    -The Wedding Singer
    -Dumb and Dumber
    -A River Runs Through It
    -The Matrix
    -Love Actually
    -Jurassic Park
    -The 40 Year Old Virgin

    • Glad we got a little testosterone in this list. I’ve never seen Die Hard or Jurassic Park.

-Three Amigos is good, but not over and over again.
-Agree with The Wedding Singer and probably The Matrix.
-Could live without Dumb and Dumber and A River Runs Through It.
-I don’t understand Love Actually. It’s on all the time, so I watch it, but only if I can’t find something better.
-I love Steve Carell, and The 40 Year Old Virgin, but in order to look like a better Christian than you, I’m not going to say I can watch it over and over.
-Braveheart goes on a different list, but it’s on one coming up for sure!

      • What don’t you understand about Love Actually?

And not only can I watch 40 yr Old Virgin over and over, I could probably quote most of it also.

Die Hard and Jurassic Park are textbook examples of a perfect blockbuster movie.

      • See my response to Nathan’s for why I don’t get it.

  • Hmm. Like the 2 of you, these are not necessarily my favorites, but I can watch them over and over again.
    *The Fugitive
    *Pretty Woman
    *Love, Actually
    *Girl, Interrupted
    *Dumb and Dumber
    *Groundhog Day
    *Starsky & Hutch
    *Notting Hill
    *Bourne trilogy
    *Clear and Present Danger

    • Love The Fugative! Can’t believe I forgot that one.

      Still don’t understand Love Actually.

Never seen Girl, Interrupted or Clear and Present Danger

Could live without Dumb and Dumber and Starsky & Hutch, although both enjoyable just not repeatable.

Love Notting Hill, too. The roommate is one of my favorite characters.

      • You so need to watch Girl, Interrupted! Deep and dark movie, but it’s a good one…

      • “If you lived here, you’d be home by now.” That movie is awesome. I can’t watch it anymore, but it helped me through my own dark times.

  • “Still don’t understand Love Actually. ”

Hands down, without a doubt, bar none, unequivocally my favorite movie of all time. I could watch it every day for the rest of my life and never get tired of it.

    • Maybe I need to watch it again. Just wasn’t a fan. I think I was expecting something totally different.

  • Also I cannot believe Finding Nemo is not on anyone’s list.

      Love Finding Nemo!

    • I’ve only seen Finding Nemo once, and I’m totally okay with that 🙂 I do love it, though!

    • I consider myself a big fan of Pixar, and Finding Nemo wouldn’t be in my top 5 from them.

  • Anonymous

I watch the Harry Potter movies and the Lord of the Ring movies over and over and over. I am terrified to admit what my favorite movie is though. My favorite movie is Seven. When I tell people, everyone seems to cringe. I just love the suspense.

    • I’m currently rewatching the Lord of the Ring movies. I’ve never watched any Harry Potter, but upon the recommendation of my friend, I’m going to read the books and then start!

  • amybook

    That’s a pretty good list.
I would add Dirty Dancing – I happen to own in on VHS and DVD. Both different anniversary additions 🙂 The VHS one has a seperate tape that is a concert of the soundtrack. I even watched that a few times.
And the Die Hard movies are also some of my faves. I had only ever watched them on TV until the newest one came out and I went and watched it in the theater. So much language…but I still love it, a lot.
    And maybe The Notebook.
    I could probably keep going…but I won’t.

    • I tried to watch Dirty Dancing not long ago, and it was too much cheese for me, and I can stand a lot of cheese.

Love The Notebook, but I don’t enjoy making myself cry, so I try not to watch it much.

    My top ten:
    1: Lethal Weapon Movies
2: Die Hard Movies ( Which as your sister I am totally ashamed that you have not seen this!)
    3: Dirty Dancing
    4: The Bourne movies
5: How to lose a Guy in 10 Days
    6: Sabrina
    7: Beauty and the Beast
    8: Something to Talk About
    9: Pretty Woman
    10: Double Jeopardy

    • Never had any desire to watch the Die Hard movies. Sorry, Sis. Almost put How To Lose a Guy. Totally forgot about Sabrina, though!!

  • Bethany Meeks

Hmm. My list is as follows (in no particular order)

    1. Zoolander
    2. The Other Sister
    3. The Bourne Trilogy
    4. Mean Girls
    5. Phantom of the Opera
    6. The Princess Bride
    7. Rose Red
    8. The Dark Night
    9. The Brothers Grimm
    10. A Knights Tale

Ok I might have had a thing for Heath Ledger.

    • I think you do have a think for the late great Heath Ledger. Haven’t seen The Other Sister, Rose Red or The Brothers Grimm. I hated Zoolander the first time I watched it. The second time it was hilarious. Don’t know what the difference was. The Dark Knight is one of my favorite comic book movies!!

  • Typtyp1

I love Return to Me, the Proposal, Sweet Home Alabama is one of my all-time favs, Pelican Brief…okay, maybe I should just say I haven’t seen Pride & Prejudice, the Prince & Me and the last Bourne movie. I love the rest. Sandra Bullock is awesome, one of my all-time favorite actresses. The Proposal is hysterical. I love goofy movies, Tommy Boy, Christmas Vacation, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Wedding Singer, etc. I love movies!!!

    • I can get behind all of those. Sounds like we need to have a movie night so you can watch Pride & Prejudice.

I also left one very important one off my list, and I can’t believe that I forgot it! True Lies! I love it!

  • Return to Me is cool–it’s got Archie Bunker, and Agent Mulder in it, too.

    The Bourne movies rock!

Your list being a “girly” one and all–where’s Jerry Maguire? I mean, hello! 😉

I have watched the Lord of the Rings trilogy over and over again. Last of the Mohicans, Star Wars (original trilogy), most of the Star Treks (5 is dead to me). There ae numerous others.

    • I love Last of the Mohicans. I think it will probably go on another list at some point. I’m re-watching the LOTR movies again.

I have a little bit of a problem with Jerry Maguire. I don’t like it. “You had me at hello.” ? Really? I’m also a huge cynic, so that may be part of it.

I’ve never really gotten into Star Wars or Star Trek. I love the stories, but I think I would have rather read the books 😉

      Thanks for stopping by, Chad!!

  • We’re such sisters. Return to Me is on my Top 5 favorites of all time. I also watch The Pelican Brief when it airs. Even if there’s only 20 minutes left.

And there’s a lot of hooker in me I’m afraid.

    • And I’m fixin’ to watch the new Jane Eyre you recommended. I think we’d get along just fine at a movie night 🙂
