Find Something That Scares You

Today I just want to issue a challenge to you.  I like challenges.  The task seems insurmountable, but once you finish?  That feeling is like no other.  There was something that you didn’t think you could do.  And you accomplished it.  So today, here’s what I want you to do:

Find something that scares you…and do it.

I’m not talking dangerous.  You can put money on it that just because jumping out of an airplane scares me, that doesn’t mean I’m going to go do it today.  No.  Freaking.  Way.

But fear is going into a meeting afraid to share your ideas.  So today?  Share them.

It’s heading out the door to a workout that you think you might not finish.  Finish it.

It’s writing the first few words on a book that’s been in your head for years.  Write them.

It’s wanting to talk to the friend you haven’t talked to in years.  Make the call.

You see where I’m going with this?  Everyone has things that scare them.  I was afraid to start working out and training for something because, well, what if I failed?  What if I got hurt?  What if I hated it?

What if I didn’t?

We have to let the thought of victory overcome the fear of failure.

Do you want to read that again?

We have to let the thought of victory overcome the fear of failure.

I know you’re scared.  But what if, just what if you find something you’re passionate about?  What if that fear was unfounded?

What if you quit asking what if and just stepped into your dreams?

So today I challenge us all.  Find something that scares you…and do it.

Me?  I’m going to write more today.

What are you going to do?

Doing things that scare me has become my new ‘thing’ – fear is such a liar. and I refuse to accept those lies as truth any longer. So, I’m looking fear in the face and telling it to sit down and shut up. I’m not sure what it will be today but I have decided to skydive for my birthday 🙂 and Karaoke is also on the ‘soon to be done’ list.

    Thanks for sharing! Love you!

    • Somehow you skydiving doesn’t surprise me. Maybe we’ve talked about it in the past. Karaoke doesn’t really scare me too much. I sing in front of the church every Sunday, but maybe in front of strangers would be different. Who knows! You’d better get pictures of your skydiving adventures, though! Love you, too!

  • Today I wrote out prayers for unsaved friends, acquaintances, and loved ones. And I sent them.
